    In this game design coding class, students learn basic computer science principles and coding skills while programming computers using the block-based language Scratch. This class consists of eight, 60-minute sessions where students are presented computer science principles and create eight different game design projects. Stay for five minutes or the whole hour. RSVPs appreciated. All ages. Donate a new pair of comfy socks or a gently used book and receive a S.P.E.W. (Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare) badge. Donations will be taken to Blank Children's Hospital.

    Only approximately 1 in 23 cases of elder abuse are ever reported, and 90% of elder abuse is committed by a family member or other trusted person. Iowa is an aging state, with more than 490,000 individuals older than 65. It is second in the percentage of adults 85 years or older. This course will help participants learn how to recognize abuse in later life and what actions should be taken if abuse is occurring in their own lives or in the lives of those around them. Attendees will also learn how to protect themselves as well as how to effectively help any friends, families, or loved ones who may be experiencing abuse.
