Teams will battle it out in the stacks to find out who is the ultimate Nerf war champion. Nerf not your thing? Don't worry, there's more! We'll make slime, play Wii games on the big screen and more! Food, prizes, and fun for everyone! This is a reward party and is open only to teen readers who have earned 500 points in the reading club. REGISTRATION AND REWARD TICKET ARE REQUIRED, space is limited. We will have Nerf guns and darts available for play.   • Library Loud Day: Damani Phillips Jazz Quartet Concert

    Johnston Public Library 6:30pm - 7:30pm

    The Damani Phillips Jazz Quartet will be at Johnston Public Library for an indoor concert in the library on Wednesday, August 16 from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Bring the whole fam for a chance to hear some top-notch jazz in the library. We promise--no shushing librarians on this night--maybe some dancing librarians though. Dr. Phillips is an active performer and composer as well as a professor of Jazz and African American Studies at the University of Iowa and has taught and performed throughout the United States, England and Japan. He has also performed with artists and groups including, Christian McBride, Terrell Stafford, The Temptations, The Lexington Kentucky Philharmonic and the Pontiac-Oakland Symphony. Phillips will be joined by Jason Danielson on piano, Steve Charlson on bass and Fabio Augustinas on drums. This event part of the Zenith Chamber Music Festival.
