Celebrating Family Stories: Johnston Community Read Fest

Event Description:

What's your story? What's the story of your family? Where did your family story begin? Join us for a day of thinking about stories that matter as we celebrate the things that make us unique as well as what we all share, including the hopes and dreams we have for our families. Beginning Tuesday, May 28 pick up a print or audio copy of our 2019 Community Read book: Inside Out & Back Again by Thanhha Lai. Read it on your own. Read it with your family. Think about your own family story. Then on August 17 at 2:00pm, come to Johnston Public Library for a virtual author visit with Thanhha Lai, author of Inside Out & Back Again. Thanhha will talk about the book and her own family story of leaving Vietnam as a refugee with her family when she was a child. In addition to Thanhha's author visit, hit up these other awesome activities at the Community Read Fest anytime between 1pm and 4pm:
* Have your photo taken by local artist Liz Brown for JPL Humans of Johnston Photography Project
* Make your own mini family story podcast in our Tech Lab
* Create your own storytelling craft
* Sample favorite family recipes from all over the world
* And More!
