Event Description:

In lieu of charging for the class, we ask that you bring a food item which will then be donated to the Johnston Partnership.

Ages 14+ (if younger than 16, you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian).

Lt. Tompkins of the Johnston Police Department will train attendees on the proper ways to prepare, attack and survive, if ever caught in a dangerous situation. In this class, attendees will learn how to create the correct mindset, safety options to know before something happens and how to create muscle memory to react, when stress is at its highest. Lt. Tompkins will train attendees in stressful situations, so they can learn to think clearly and escape. This class will help you overcome the fear of freezing and empower you with active counter measures, so you can get yourself out of a dangerous situation. This class is not force-on-force and will not offer any contact or take-down moves. You will be asked to work with a partner in a controlled setting to simulate the techniques taught during the class.
