  • Teen Tuesday Challenge: Pringles Ringle

    Johnston Public Library Tue., Jun. 22nd All Day

    Science and snacks combine in this week's Teen Tuesday Challenge! We'll give you a canister of Pringles. Then, it's up to you to make a 3-D ring out of the tasty chips -- no tape or glue allowed. Take a selfie with your finished Pringles Ringle and email it to young@johnstonlibrary.com by July 6 for a chance to win a $15 gift card! Everyone who submits a Pringles Ringle picture will receive a prize. Register beginning June 15. Pick up your kit June 22. 6th grade and up. Part of the 2021 Summer Library Program: Color Your World

  • Virtual Dungeons And Dragons

    Online Wed., Jun. 23rd 4:00pm - 5:30pm

    Play D&D with us online via Zoom! All levels of experience are welcome! Bring a character or use one of our pre-made characters. Registration with valid email address required. If we create a character for you, we will email that to you before the event. Please plan to attend all of the meetings as our campaign will be ongoing.     Geek out about the pop culture you love with JPL's Random Fandom Party Packs. We'll be offering a new Party Pack each week filled with everything you need to celebrate your favorite fandom. (This week, it's Star Wars!) Packs may contain snacks, crafts, fandom gear, and MORE! Register to reserve your pack Monday - Wednesday each week.   • Teen Tuesday Challenge: The Great Papercraft Race

    Johnston Public Library Tue., Jun. 29th All Day

    Are you a detail-oriented crafter up for a challenge? Are scissors and glue two of your best friends? If you answered yes to those questions, then this is the perfect challenge for you! Register for one of our giant sloth paper craft kits. (FYI- this craft is not for the faint of heart. It will be a challenge!) We'll give you everything you need to construct your very own 3-D sloth entirely out of paper at home! Then, the first person to complete their sloth and bring it back to the library will win a fabulous Sloth Prize Pack including loads of fun sloth stuff and a $15 gift certificate to a really fun place. For kids in 6th grade and up. All participants who complete a sloth will receive a prize. Register beginning June 22. Pick up your sloth kits June 29. Sloths must be complete by July 16.     Johnston Public Library Tue., Jul. 6th All Day

    Put your creativity and ingenuity to the test! Register for a Glue Gun Art Pack filled with lots of creative supplies and a low temp. glue gun. Then, use the supplies and the glue gun to make something fantastic and incredible. Bring your completed project back to the library so we can put it on display. Everyone who completes a project gets a prize and the most incredible project will win a $15 gift card. For kids entering 6th grade and up. Registration begins June 29; pick up your bag July 6. Projects must be completed by July 16.

    We're bringing back board games...virtually! Kids in 6th grade and up can join us as we play board games together online via Zoom and en.boardgamearena.com. This month we'll be playing Dice Forge! Dice Forge is a development game featuring innovative mechanics based on dice with removable faces. In this dice crafting game, players build their own dice. Roll your dice, manage your resources, complete ordeals before your opponents and explore multiple winning strategies. Now you control the luck of the dice! Forge your destiny!   • Epic Fandom Scavenger Hunt Reward Party

    Johnston Public Library Thu., Jul. 22nd 4:00pm - 7:30pm

    REWARD TICKET AND REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Solve clues and riddles related to famous fandom characters to earn TONS OF PRIZES! You must have earned 500 points in the Summer Reading Challenge to earn a ticket. Stop by anytime between 4:00pm - 7:30pm to start your hunt, which will take about 20 minutes to complete.
