Lonely Readers Club
Online Mon., Jun. 27th All Day
Flirting with the idea of a book club, but not interested in peopling or meeting? We get you. The JPL Lonely Readers Club is all of the book club with none of the meetings. The book for the month will be announced via the Facebook group @ facebook.com/groups/JPLLonelyReadersClub. Print copies of the Lonely Readers Club book of the month will be available at JPL beginning the 8th of the month, while supplies last. If you're feeling social, (as in, social media social), join the JPL Lonely Readers Club Facebook group and chat with fellow readers about characters, plot, how that one character really bothered you, or whatever else you need to get off your chest. It's the literary lonely hearts club for that little bit of recluse in all of us! Discussion begins online on the last Monday of each month.

Legobot Mechanics Club
West Meeting Room (1/2 of Large) Sat., Jul. 9th 3:00pm - 4:30pm
A fun, laid-back robotics class for kids 11-13 years old. This club is for kids at any level of knowledge in robotics, and we encourage anyone interested to try it out. Instructors are coaches and students from the Johnston robotics team and will teach participants how to build a Lego robot and program it. There will be some chill mini-competitions for fun. Kids should to try to come to every lesson as we will build upon our knowledge, but drop-ins are welcome as well. Snacks and necessary materials will be provided. We will be meeting once a month on Saturdays from January to July from 3pm to 4:30pm. Registration appreciated.

Saturday Morning Knitting Group

Learn to knit, sharpen your skills, meet some pals and just geek out about crafts in general. Erica Carnes invites you to drop-in, bring your knitting and join the group every third Saturday of the month from 10:30am to noon. Due to the proximity required to teach knitting, masks are required at this in-person class. Disposable masks will be available. Erica has been knitting since 2004 and teaching knitting to anyone that will listen since 2010. She enjoys bright colors, natural fibers and pieces that step away from the norm.

Food Editor Lois Carpenter will show how to make your own hot honey and share recipes and samples for Hot Honey Chicken over Waffles and Honey-Cashew Cookie Bars. Get A Flu Shot With Polk County Health Department

Flu season is coming--are you ready? Come to JPL Wednesday, October 5 from 5:00pm to 7:30pm to get flu shots for the whole family. Most major insurance cards are accepted and flu shots for uninsured individuals are available for a suggested donation of $25.00, but no one will be turned away because of inability to pay. Pre-register with Polk County at www.immunizepolk.com to skip the registration paperwork and be in and out of JPL quickly. The Quadravalent flu vaccine will be available in injection form only.A higher dosage flu shot for individuals 65 and older will also be available. Due to a cost increase in this high dose vaccine for individuals 65+, the Polk County Health Dept asks for a donation of $65 for the higher dose vaccine, but also will never turn anyone away.

Learn to knit, sharpen your skills, meet some pals and just geek out about crafts in general. Erica Carnes invites you to drop-in, bring your knitting and join the group every third Saturday of the month from 10:30am to noon. Due to the proximity required to teach knitting, masks are required at this in-person class. Disposable masks will be available. Erica has been knitting since 2004 and teaching knitting to anyone that will listen since 2010. She enjoys bright colors, natural fibers and pieces that step away from the norm.
