Pickup up to 20 items by appointment

- Wait to be Notified: Once your holds are ready, you’ll be notified by your preferred notification method: email, phone, or text.
- Make an Appointment: Your notification will include instructions on making an appointment to pickup your holds. If you’d like to pickup holds for others in your household, please let us know when you make your appointment. Holds that become available after you’ve made an appointment will be bundled with your other holds.
- Pickup Your Items: Arrive at your scheduled time and park in the library parking lot; call or text your first and last name to (515) 412-0410; stay in your car while we bring your items in a bag labelled with your name to a table in front of the library. If you need to return items during your appointment, please use the library’s book drop.
- Don’t have a card? Have Fines? Johnston and rural Polk County residents can sign up for a digital card that can be used to place holds on items for curbside pickup. We will not be collecting fine payments or restricting checkouts based on fines while we’re offering curbside pickup.
